2025 Year In Review

It’s mid November and I must have visited my blog draft page at least 15 times with the intent to write a post, only to have been sidetracked (I blame it on TikTok). Disclaimer, this post is homemade, not written with any GPTs!

I started the New Year at the top of the Columbia Tower for the annual New Years Eve party. It was not as grand of a gala as it has been in previous years and I’m likely going to seek out alternative plans for my next New Years Eve celebration.

This year has been filled with many gifts, and they started coming in January with the installation of a new furnace and air conditioning. Air conditioning in Seattle is not common, so if the world were to end today, future anthropologists will cite my home as a former palace for royalty.

February was filled with lots of rain (shocker) and a somber memorial for my dear friend Rick Sands. Rick gave me many gifts throughout our friendship, one of them being The White Stripes as well as many of his dear friends which I now call my dear friends. Rick and I had not been talking for the last year leading up to his passing and that has been a tough pill for me to swallow. Our values no longer aligned. Neither was wrong, we just grew apart and that is OK.

March brought an end to my career at a Seattle startup (I bounced after 4 years, my stocks vested post Series A) and the beginning of a new career and role where I am managing a group of Enterprise AE’s. So far it’s been an educational journey. I am pining to start my next company and continue to do diligence.

April was April. May was May. June was a work trip to Los Angeles, otherwise it was June.

July I revisited the Mariners Diamond Club with my daughter, the same place I took her for her birthday 20 years earlier. It was such a great experience. We felt like we were the most important people in the entire stadium. I used to share season tickets in Diamond Club, so no stranger to the service. But this crew, this year, they are MVPs and doing it right!

July also brought a pretty awesome person with a radiant smile into my life. With my new friend, August was filled with many dates and fun trips (lots of boating too). The most fun being a weekend trip to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. We went whale watching (finally got to see orcas) and took a trip around the island on mopeds. It was a ton of fun, highly recommend.

September was filled with many special dinners and dates. September also included my son re-entering my life which was unexpected and a highlight this year. He’s thick into Ju-jitsu and regularly places high in tournaments (Placed 1st in this match). We had around two solid months of working out together in my gym as well as a few social events before he stepped back. The good news is that we are still talking and making progress towards a healthy relationship.

October was another trip to Los Angeles for work (highlighted with a return to Dan Tana’s, which hands down has the best Caesar Salad you will ever eat). October was enhanced with Mariner’s games, Seahawks games, and watching the World Series at a bar in Los Angeles (such great energy). October was also a reminder of how far I have come with relationships and boundaries. Time will tell, but I like where we’re headed.

November has been fall golfing, solid family time, and also Doechii live at the WAMU theater in Seattle. Doechii is a Queen and the energy at her show was fulfilling and motivating. I am planning on Thanksgiving with my daughter and her boyfriend as well as my girlfriend.

December is going to be lit! I am going to see a very special show at the beginning of December (will update the blog after, but it’s a surprise for my GF so just in case she sees this blog). We are also going to see The Nutcracker, attend a few Christmas parties, and then spend the Christmas holiday at a cabin in Leavenworth.

I have an immense amount of gratitude for my life and all of the people I love that I have surrounded myself with. I will continue to focus on healthy relationships, peak physical health, a career that excites and motivates me, and gratitude. Sending you lots of love and good energy for the same!
